With nearly 40,000 clients, VSP needs to satisfy its clients in order to continue putting patients in your chair; that means being able to win and retain clients, and to do so we must be competitive. Often this means providing them with the features, services and programs they demand.

Beginning in 2010, VSP was finding that more and more clients wanted to work with a vision plan that offered a retail component—VSP did not. Without a retail component, VSP was frequently shut out of the bidding process. With limited ability to bid, VSP was at risk of losing members—losing your patients.

How to Compete

To remain competitive and protect patient access VSP launched its Affiliate Program in 2011. The program initially included Costco, and then Visionworks of America (formerly Eye Care Centers of America), and most recently Wisconsin Vision.

Today, the Affiliate Program is offered by less than 1,000 clients.

The Affiliate Program is about being responsive, mindful and fast to react so that VSP continues to put patients in your chair.
